Peace, Peace, Peaceby Elton Williamson on 09/22/13
John 14:27 says, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid" All the world is crying for peace, why can't the world find it? I just want to share a few thoughts about peace that we are all longing for.
As strange as it sounds peace comes from surrender, surrender to God. We have no chance of ongoing inner peace unless we understand that in Christ there is no compromise, no deal to be cut with God. It is our peace with God that gives us the peace of God. It is the quiet confidence we have that is built on our belief that He is in charge of all things that helps us accomplish His purpose. It gives us peace of mind.
The peace that the world gives is short and temporary, eroded by busy schedules, possessions, power and turmoil we get ourselves into in this world. Worldly peace is a facade, it quickly fades and spiriles into nothing.
We can unite in the peace of God and be overcomers to all that the enemy of our soul would throw at us. Fear that satan tries to bring can be broken by allowing the peace of God to rule our heart. Sure, we face trials and bad times and sorrow but it can't shake our peace if it is grounded in Christ.
It seems strange to think that it is submission that declares freedom in our lives. How great to know that the kingdom of God does not function as the world does. We are His creation so let's find our peace in the Creator, after all, we are His. Let not the winds of the world blow away your peace. The enemy can't steal it, we can Only lose it by giving it away.
